The Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme (SOCP), is a cooperative venture involving the Swiss based PanEco Foundation, the German-based Frankfurt Zoological Society, the Indonesian Yayasan Ekosistem Lestari (YEL; Foundation for a Sustainable Ecosystem) and the Indonesian Government’s Directorate General of Forest Protection and Nature Conservation (PHKA). SOCP currently engages in confiscation, quarantine, re-introduction, research, surveys and monitoring of wild orangutan populations, habitat protection, education and general advocacy. |
