Indonesia to Set Up Trust Fund to Reduce Emissions |

26 May, 2010 - Jakarta Post- Jakarta/Oslo. Indonesia plans to set up a multinational trust fund led by the President's trusted man Kuntoro Mangkusubroto as part of a bilateral agreement between Indonesia and Norway to reduce carbon emissions, a minister said.
Under the letter of intent to be signed by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg at the latter's guest house in Oslo, Indonesia will receive US$1 billion in grant to preserve its forests.

2010 Orangutan Caring Scholarship Recipients Chosen |

28 April 2010 - Medan. The Orangutan Caring Scholarship, started in 2006, has developed into a highly respected and sought after academic prize by biology, forestry and veterinary students in Sumatra, Indonesia. Funding and implementing the annual scholarship program is a collaborative effort by the Orang Utan Republik Foundation (OURF) and the Sumatran Orangutan Society and their Orangutan Information Center (SOS-OIC) in Medan, Sumatra. The competitive scholarship provides the winning students four years of tuition and funds for conducting their thesis research and write-up. Such support is critical for highly motivated and talented students who can otherwise not afford to pay for their tuition. In exchange for receiving the award, the students provide support to SOS-OIC in conducting outreach programs to nearby schools, inspiring and educating the youth of the area.
